1. OVP Make a Difference Drive

OVP's 2006 Make a Difference Drive has started! This drive collects everyday items that human service agencies in Champaign County, such as Crisis Nursery and the TIMES Center, need such as toiletries, kid-friendly foods, construction paper, deodorant, and toothbrushes! If your RSO or you yourself would like to participate in this easy philanthropic activity please e-mail us at ovp at uiuc.edu <mailto:ovp at uiuc.edu> ! Drop off all donations at the Office of Volunteer Programs at 277 Illini Union in the RSO Complex. Visit http://www.union.uiuc.edu/ovp/ <http://www.union.uiuc.edu/ovp/> for more information!

2. Adopt the Pavilion Foundation School!!

Interested in giving local school children something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving?? For the past several years an organization has solicited and collected food for Thanksgiving baskets which the Pavilion Foundation School has delivered to some very needy families. However, that organization is not able to provide this service to the Pavilion Foundation School. This would be a great and easy philanthropic project for any RSO to take up - your help would be much appreciated in organizing a food drive for some of Pavilion's needy students!!! Contact Sally Corby at the Pavilion Foundation School if you are interested at Sally.Corby at uhsinc.com <mailto:Sally.Corby at uhsinc.com> !

3. Harvest Fest!

Come join the Champaign Park District in their third annual Harvest Fest on October 21st! Live entertainment, hay rides, and much more! Twenty volunteers will be needed from 10:30am - 4:30pm to assist with game booths and craft activities for children. Contact Katie Flint at katie.flint at cparkdistrict.com <mailto:katie.flint at cparkdistrict.com> or at 217-398-2571.

4. Halloween Funfest!

Boo! Feeling Spooky?? Get a group of friends together to help out at the Champaign Park District Halloween Funfest on October 28th! Sixty volunteers will be needed from 5:30-9:30pm to help run game/activity booths for children. Little ghosts and goblins will stop by your booth to participate in your game and to "trick-or-treat." Don't miss the fun! Contact Katie Flint at katie.flint at cparkdistrict.com <mailto:katie.flint at cparkdistrict.com> or at 217-398-2571.

5. Tutor and Mentor with CWIT!

The Center for Women in Transition is looking for volunteers to provide children with a positive role model, assist children with homework and give the child an ongoing and long-lasting friendship! Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday between 3:00pm and 5:00pm! Contact Michael Parrish at volunteer at cwt-cu.org <mailto:volunteer at cwt-cu.org> or 217-352-7151.

6. YWCA Student Leadership Panel

The YWCA Student Leadership Panel is a group of students who are dedicated to 'eliminating racism and empowering women' through social activism. We act in conjunction with the University YWCA in planning various events in the Champaign-Urbana community. Past events have included a high school 'Shadow Day' and a 5K race. We will be having meetings every Monday at 7pm in the University YMCA building for the rest of the semester. Contact Katie Bruce at kmbruce at uiuc.edu <mailto:kmbruce at uiuc.edu> for more information!

7. East Central Illinois Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run/Walk

The East Central Illinois Arthritis Foundation needs assistance with pre-event mailings, phone calls, and errands for the event! Get involved with this great advocacy cause by contacting Terri Mason at 217-389-7815!

8. Center for Women in Transition Kids Night

Entertain and supervise children between the ages of 3 months and 16 years old. Every Tuesday and Thursday night volunteers are needed from 6:30-8p.m. Activities and supplies will be provided. This is a great opportunity to build a resume if you plan on working with children or in the social services field!
