"Thollem McDonas is simply one of the great improvisers of today".
- The Detroiter (U.S.)

"McDonas welds elements of jazz, blues and classical music into a mighty
tower of song, then shatters his
construct with the breathless bull-rush of a mystic improviser."
- The River Front Times (St. Louis)

Thollem McDonas does what few can: He combines extreme imagination with
terrific post-classical chops
and an ability to communicate through melody a fresh, disciplined
avant-pianist with an attractively extreme viewpoint."
- Greg Burk - LA Weekly (U.S.)

Bloom Project is a spirited collaboration between pianist Thollem
McDonas and saxophonist Rent Romus. McDonas has logged thousands of
miles touring throughout the world performing his unique brand of
compositional improvisation with nineteen recordings spanning nine
recording labels. Romus has released over twenty three recordings and
built a community infrastructure in the San Francisco Bay Area as the
owner of Edgetone Records and the Executive Director of Outsound. Bloom
Project features free improvisations as well interpretations of textual
and graphical scores.
